Our specialist equipment, and the latest scientific techniques, help pharmaceutical companies investigate the compressibility of powders. We offered several compaction tests to the client to help them understand what they wanted to learn from their powder or what data they required to make in-house decisions.
The PhD student was sponsored by a global car manufacturer, and we were thrilled to offer our expertise. They needed expert compaction simulation assistance to quantify the compaction properties of their material to better understand compression in the green state. With this information, they could then decide the next move for development.
Our Case Study Highlights:
The student required the powder to be in the form of compacts, however, the material had challenging compression properties. We carried out a personalised programme of compression testing to help compact the investigational powder to their bespoke specification. The client required a small number of compacts with desired properties for further analytical measurements at their own facility. The compaction study was conducted at different speeds and compression profiles, with and without lubrication, to find a process capable of making acceptable compacts, so they could be taken away for further evaluation.
The project was completed on the hydraulic compaction simulator and was delivered under the supervision of the company, following a brief for a speedy turnaround time.
